A Little Bit About Us
Cal-Wood’s mission is to offer a unique outdoor educational experience to youth and adults.
Cal-Wood’s founding vision has guided our organization for 39 years: to inspire a greater appreciation for the natural world; to offer environmental education to those who would not otherwise experience it; and to provide unique educational opportunities in a special mountain setting.
Cal-Wood strives to grow the diversity and number of people who experience nature and the Colorado mountains. Cal-Wood has provided environment and outdoor education to hundreds of thousands of Coloradans through school programs, Latino Family Camps, and summer camps held at our beautiful 1,200 acre mountain site and Colorado’s public land.
School Programs
GETTING READY FOR YOUR SCHOOL’S RESIDENTIAL TRIP TO CAL-WOOD!
Join us for a nature immersion experience at Cal-Wood. Each program is customized to meet each school’s academic, social, and language needs. Students will participate in hands-on, field-based exploration of local plants, animals, fire ecology, forestry, geology, and pond ecosystems.
SUMMER CAMP
CAL-WOOD IS A PLACE FOR ADVENTURE!
Summer days are spent exploring our forests, meadows, creeks, and historical sites while making new friends and bonding with old. Campers will learn to embrace the mountains and challenge themselves through education, recreation, and making lifelong memories!
RETREATS AND FACILITY RENTAL
AN EVENT OR MEETING AT CAL-WOOD IS TRULY UNIQUE!
Cal-Wood’s remote and breathtaking setting combined with cozy accommodations and delicious food create a perfect atmosphere for an organizational retreat for 20 to 120 guests. Groups find they accomplish more in their time at Cal-Wood because of the lack of distraction and the abundance of natural inspiration.
