A Little Bit About Us
At Earth Force our mission is to engage young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities now and in the future.
But the effort has to start in middle school. Research shows that when 10-14 year olds participate in local problem-solving, they bring fresh perspectives to the problems and build a civic toolset to solve problems into adulthood.

Community Action and Problem-Solving
investigating the outdoors
Earth Force is committed to being part of the Sheridan Inspire Initiative and building the capacity of Sheridan School District educators to engage youth in investigating the outdoors and learning how to take civic action to improve the environment. Earth Force trains and supports between 4 to 6 educators and engage a minimum of 100 to 150 students.
Through the class, student investigations will be supported by community infrastructure to deepen their connection to the outdoors and their local community. Students have at minimum two formal opportunities to engage with community stakeholders on community issues. At the end of the program, students will be invited to share their project with their peers and community at an annual youth summit in May, 2022.

Environmental Action Civics is a youth-centered, standards-aligned approach that guides students as they learn about their environment and gives them the opportunity to take civic action to address problems they find. Earth Force does an incredible job in our district to help identify important projects that meet the needs of the community and through leadership, to take action!
